Lemon Loaf Cake - Tuesdays With Dorie

This week’s Tuesdays With Dorie is Lemon Loaf Cake. I was really excited because I absolutely love lemon plus the recipe sounded simple – whisk everything together, pour into the pan, and bake. No chilling, no kneading dough, no cutting anything out. Mix and bake. In fact, it took longer to bake than to actually make the batter.

Angel Food Cupcakes and McCormick Spring Giveaway

Are you ready for spring? Here in PA, the weather went from sorta-winter into summer. Or at least that's what it feels like some weeks. Where did spring go? Well if it's not spring outside, then it's spring in my kitchen, thanks to McCormick with their latest Spring Baking Kit. One of the recipes you can make is Angel Food Cupcakes. When you pair it with lemon, I think it pretty much screams spring, don't you?

Virtual Bake Sale - Buy My Cookies (Seriously!)

Over the past few months, I've been getting more and more comments about my pictures and how you wish you were my coworkers to eat my goodies. First of all, thank you to everyone! I do read each and every comment, but because I hate Blogger's comment form, it's hard to reply to each one. Hopefully moving to Wordpress will fix that... But that's not why I'm posting (but seriously, thank you). How would you like the chance to have a dozen of my cookies mailed to your home? I'm not kidding. I'm offering to mail YOU (who live in the US) one dozen of my Nutty Oatmeal Ginger Sandwich Cookies. Not only will you be fed well, you will be saving lives. Erin of The Spiffy Cookie is hosting a Virtual Bake Sale that will benefit The House of Mews in Memphis, TN.

Cadbury Creme Egg Cupcakes

So I brought to you the Cadbury milkshake yesterday. Still intrigued by the idea of homemade fondant cream, I decided to fill and frost some chocolate cupcakes. Sure, I could've put a Cadbury egg in the middle and called it a night, but I wanted to be different. Plus this means I can make these any day of the year and not be too dependent on the candy ;)

Cadbury Creme Egg Milkshake

Move over, Halloween and Christmas. Easter has the real candy. Cadbury creme eggs, jelly beans, peanut butter eggs, marshmallow peeps, Cadbury creme eggs, chocolate bunnies. Did I mention Cadbury creme eggs? Because those are my favorite. This year I squealed at Target because I found MINI creme eggs! Seriously, best idea ever (besides the eggs themselves of course)! So how can I make the best candy ever even better? Make it a milkshake.

Pizza Rustica - Tuesdays With Dorie

This week’s Tuesdays With Dorie recipe was Pizza Rustica. This is the first real savory recipe we’ve done so far (still doesn’t make it any less fattening!). It’s essentially a pizza made in a pie plate (literally a pizza pie). However, it is much quicker to make than a regular pizza. For starters, the dough doesn’t have any yeast, so no rising and resting time. Then the filling is a handful of ingredients mixed together (seriously, all you do is stir). Put it together in the pie plate and let it bake while you are finishing prepping dinner.

Chocolate Mint Rice Crispy Treats

What inspires you to create a recipe? Most of the time, I end up taking elements from several recipes and piecing them together. Take these Chocolate Mint Rice Crispy Treats for example. At the store, I found a bag of chocolate mint marshmallows. I've been experimenting with flavored marshmallow rice crispy treats (such as these peppermint ones and a gingerbread one I never posted), so I wanted to try mint. However, I wanted to add a little more pizazz. I remember seeing a recipe for a layered bar where the base was a rice crispy treat, the middle was a peanut butter mixture, and the top was a chocolate glaze. Then I got the idea to turn the filling into mint, very similar to grasshopper brownies, and top that with a simple chocolate glaze. I love the texture of these bars - the crispy base balances well with the smooth buttercream and glaze on top.
